I turn “we need a way to…” into a working system.

I’m Kimberly Morris. Give me a complicated idea and I’ll dig into what it needs to work. I’ve created a study participant portal, shaped the workflows around it and built a photography business of my own. I bring technical curiosity and a business owner’s sense of responsibility to making the pieces work together.

What that looks like in practice

My experience connects three sides of a business: designing how the work should happen, understanding the technology behind it, and taking responsibility for the customer’s experience.

01 / FROM IDEA TO IMPLEMENTATION

A study needed a process. I helped give it one.

I created the Jotform participant portal and developed the workflows supporting an observational study. The work called for thinking through both the participant’s journey and the team’s responsibilities behind it.

  • Mapped intake, consent, review and follow-up

The decisions behind the screens

What information belongs in intake? Who reviews a submission? What happens when something is missing? How does someone know which step comes next? I worked through those questions as part of defining the participant experience.

One concrete example: combining the application and medical-history intake into a single form. Another: documenting participant actions separately from administrator review, so both sides of the process could be followed and tested.

My contribution

Portal creation in Jotform, workflow planning, forms, participant communication, Notion documentation and user/admin testing. I worked with the project’s developer on technical delivery and helped document and coordinate issues across the systems involved.

Support gives you a particular perspective on systems: you hear where instructions are confusing, where assumptions fail and where someone gets stuck.

At Sparklight, I worked through internet and account problems. At Advanced Academics, I supported users of a virtual learning platform. That experience informs the questions I ask when working on a new process: what does this person know, what do they need, and what might we be taking for granted?

I bring that perspective to testing, documentation and customer onboarding.

It’s also why I care about the systems behind a small business. A booking process, a payment step or a delivery workflow is part of the experience people remember.

I bring that combination of visual judgment and operational responsibility to the tools and processes I help create.

I’m drawn to work where I can investigate, learn and build. My background lets me move between the big picture and the practical detail: the business goal, the person using the system, and the steps needed to make it work.

Research that leads somewhereI organize what I find into requirements, decisions and next steps. The point is to give the project something it can move forward with.
An eye for the whole experienceI consider how the screens, instructions, forms and handoffs connect. Testing both user and administrator workflows helps reveal what a single view can miss.
Resourceful with new technologyI learn the tools the project calls for and work through unfamiliar problems. My experience spans portal creation, support systems, payments and website delivery.
AI as a practical working toolI use AI to explore options, organize information and iterate on work. I stay involved in questioning the output, refining the direction and deciding what is ready.

Jotform and Notion for building and organizing processes. ServiceNow for support work. ChatGPT for research and iteration. Canva for visual communication. My project work has also involved Stripe, AWS and Cloudflare, alongside the everyday tools that keep people coordinated.
